June 2020 update: Still alive and kicking!

We’ve been a little quiet, but we’re still around!

There’s always an upswing in activity at the shop during the warmer months. But right now we’re seeing a genuinely unprecedented demand for our services.

We’re guessing it’s due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Bikes are far safer than public transportation right now. And many people are bringing their old bikes out of storage, or seeking new-to-them bikes, to get exercise and fresh air during quarantine.

Despite this, we still have plenty of room for you! We are still operating on an appointment-only basis due to COVID-19. We’re asking you to cover your face if you can, wash your hands, and stay home if you’re coughing, feverish, or feeling sick.

Please call 608-251-2453 to make an appointment for service, one-on-one mechanical and safety instruction, or to get your hands on bikes or parts. You can always leave bike donations outside our shop at 1804 S Park St in Madison, but call ahead if you need a receipt.

Freewheel’s board is still discussing when and how to open back up, especially for classes. Please keep your eyes peeled for more information, hopefully soon!

Most importantly — we have exciting news about the Madison Bike Center! The Judge Doyle Square construction project is nearing completion, and we’ll be announcing our opening date soon.

We were hoping to have a big party for our opening day — but given current circumstances, it doesn’t look like that’s going to be possible. But we will be open to the public and offering our services.

There’s still time to become a member of the Madison Bike Center and take advantage of its amenities — like secure bike storage, lockers, showers, a bike wash station, and discounts on all purchases and service. Sign up now and become an early adopter!

xoxo
