Freewheel, COVID-19, and you

Dear Madison Biking Community,

Bike shops like Freewheel are considered an “essential business” under Governor Evers’ Stay At Home order.  We are still open to the public.

However, Freewheel and Bike Right are trying to balance the health and safety of our workers, members, and visitors, with the need for safe, personal transportation access during this difficult time.  We are taking all appropriate steps to ensure the cleanliness and safety of our facility during the COVID-19 outbreak, including disinfecting commonly-used surfaces and maintaining social distancing.

Since mid-March, we have been open on an appointment-only basis.  We expect this to continue until the end of the Safer at Home order.  As of this letter, Governor Evers has extended the order through May 26th.

During this period, we ask that you call 608-251-2453 or email kate@freewheelbikes.org to make a one-on-one appointment Monday through Friday, 1 pm – 9 pm, for:

  • Retail service and consultation
  • Service bike pick-up and drop-off
  • One-on-one instruction – NEW!!

Our Sunday volunteer days and open shop times are canceled during this period.

If you are a Freewheel member, we will extend your membership.

We continue to reassess what is best for us and the community, and we thank you for your patience.

We hope to be back to normal as soon as possible!  We had rides and group classes in the works, and we look forward to sharing them with you – when the time is write.

Please stay home as much as possible.

Please monitor your health, and wash your hands.

Please stay safe, and continue to protect the health of everyone you know.

                You are important to us.
